Killer Startups

CNN Money.com posted that each year, Fortune Small Business hosts their annual business plan competition in which student entrepreneurs test their marketing abilities against seasoned CEOs and angel investors.  The judges, who have seen thousands of pitches, get first glimpse of entrepreneurs and their product, while at the same time, the rooky capitalists get recognition from individuals who have the ability to get their product moving.  An obvious win-win for both parties.

This year the results proved savory, sweet, and deadly:

First place went to the “Green Dragon Roach Kill,” a pesticide-free approach to pest termination.  Second place was awarded to “Saatwic Foods” which featured CarboStar, an organic (and USDA approved) cooking additive that reduces absorption of calories from carbohydrates by 50%.  Third place was given to “SweetRiot.”  This product presents a healthier alternative to sweets by offering an on-the-go packaged dark chocolate covered cocoa bean.
