Inc.com presents a cold calling resource guides for every level of marketer. Whether you are just starting out or have been selling over the phone since high school – following these easy tips could mean better conversion rates and taking home more money.
Pat Cavanaugh offers some great advice for warming up a cold call. He suggest that you might send a prospect a little gift – something funky, yet inexpensive. This is a great way to open doors and be remembered.
If someone is pressed for time, assure them that you are not in the business of wasting time, and so you will only need 10 minutes. Even offer to bring a stop watch so they can time you.
Something else Cavanaugh recommends is to ask if a specific time works for the prospect to meet and discuss. Don’t ask if they will have time to meet, ask if Thursday at 2:00 is a good time for them. This takes the guess work out of it and makes you the initiator.
Advice from Nan Minone explains how a little research goes a long way. By mentioning something you noticed they honestly need or an article about their market, could lead to either a conversation or an excuse to stop by their office.
